While the terms “REALTOR” and “Real Estate Agent” are often used interchangeably, there is a subtle difference between the two:

REAL ESTATE AGENT

A Real Estate Agent is a professional who holds a license to assist clients in buying, selling, or renting properties. They have fulfilled the necessary requirements and obtained a state license to practice in the real estate industry.

REALTOR®

On the other hand, a REALTOR is a Real Estate Agent who is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). They are bound by a strict code of ethics and are required to adhere to specific professional standards. The REALTOR® trademarks lets people know that you are more than just a real estate practitioner: you adhere to a strict Code of Ethics that protects clients, the public, and other real estate agents.

The Key Takeaway: The biggest distinction between a Real Estate Agent and a Realtor lies in their association membership and adherence to the code of ethics set by the NAR. A Real Estate Agent has obtained a state license to assist consumers in buying or selling properties. REALTORS do the same but are agents who have gone one step further…they’ve also become members of the National Association of REALTORS (NAR).

Windcrest Gated Community in Smithtown Long Island

Nestled in Smithtown Long Island, Windcrest is a private code-gated community, East of Terry Road and Route 347 North.
