St. James Long Island is an unincorporated Hamlet near the Villages of Nissequogue and Head Of Harbor.  This area was one of the earliest settlements in the Town of Smithtown.  Most of the larger homes are North of Route 25A and bordering the Nissequogue River.  More modest homes are situated near the shopping district by Lake Avenue.
